Best Basement Decorating Ideas On A Budget

Bright Laundry Room-Pinch pennies with MDF cabinets and add your own trim.

H&H senior editor Meg Crossley turned into this unfinished basement laundry area to a laundry room oasis. Improper venting meant the washer and dryer needed to be moved into the opposite wall, in which they're currently concealed by latching doors. Meg also added a convenient sink with a kitchen-worthy faucet, an upper shelf and lower closets for extra storage. A contractor cut door fronts from MDF, then Meg additional Shaker trim for a custom look. To give the cellar an airy atmosphere, the space had been painted white. Sico's Light Sugar (4150-11), an aged white, makes the ceilings look higher without feeling sterile or cold. The cupboards were painted robin's egg blue to get a country-inspired look, basement renovations here https://capablegroupinc.ca/.

Modern Laundry Room

Consider bench pinning as a more affordable alternative to digging out a basement. The laundry room of the renovated basement was created to be clean and bright with a great deal of storage. Simple cabinets and drawers maintain everything from linens to sports equipment arranged and out of sight. A farmhouse sink and industrial style faucet and art lined across the countertop create the decor more worthy of a main-floor room than a basement for chores. Accessories like matching canisters and a dark tray finish off the look.

Bathroom Vanity Makeover-Give a big-box store locate a high-end appearance with a coat of paint.

Interior's manager Meg Crossley transformed her dingy basement bathroom with a cheap washstand she found in Canadian Tire. She painted it the same powdery light blue color as the panel moulding, which was installed to brighten up the small space by covering up the first dark tile. A painted faade for the facet of this ugly old tub, at the same color of blue, spared Meg the cost of installing a new tub. A black framed mirror, flanked with easy black metal and milk glass sconces, adds contrast to all the blue.

Work with existing plumbing.

Placing this shower beside the plumbing shaft left room for a freestanding sink at the little bathroom. New pipes was inserted from the laundry room, and the HVAC ducts were raised to the ceiling joists to permit for as much headroom as possible.

Repurpose old furniture instead of buying new.

Gardener and designer Barbara Purdy transformed a wood-burning fireplace to gasoline to create a cosy focal point in this room. I couldn't see myself hauling logs down the staircase, she says. Radiant heating installed beneath the wood-look porcelain-tile flooring adds much more heat. The couch, a hand-me-down from her parents, was regained and layered with pillows.
